Call me, "Babie, Babie Jace." |
Hey guys, so you remember my mono-blue Teferi deck? Well, I switched him out for Jace, Vryn's Prodigy. I've also done some retooling of the deck so I'll have to update the deck on Tappedout if you're all curious.
Anyway, this post is about the top 10 best cards in my deck, with some honorable mentions. My first honorable mention is Pongify and Reality Shift, for those times when you just gotta get rid of troublesome creatures. The reason they're honorable to mention though is blue doesn't have a lot of creature removal and these two spells do the best job available in their color.
So let's start the list:
10. Telling Time:

Come here often? |
Telling Time is a great card, it's a slightly better anticipate because for the same amount of mana you get to look at the top three cards, put one in your hand, and then you get to choose what you're going to draw into next, it's a great card and adds a lot of flexibility to the game.
9. Rewind:
![]() |
Please come again. |
Nothing feels better than resolving a rewind and untapping four lands, especially when one of them is a Temple of the False God and a Shire of Nyx. Hello value town.
8. Well of Ideas:

Who doesn't like drawing cards? |
Who doesn't like drawing cards? Sure your opponents get to draw an extra card, but when you can shut them down easily, does it really matter?
7. Sphinx's Tutelage:
![]() |
OH GOD MAKE IT STOP! |
When you're drawing some many cards, why not get some value from it? I recently added this as the win-con to this deck, mostly because I realized killing eight people with combat damage is a lot of work, especially with all the triggers I would have to remember, so why not just mill everyone?
6. Pact of Negation:
![]() |
How about no? |
For when you really need to stop a spell resolving and you're all tapped out.
5. Daze:
![]() |
Double No. |
This is the back up plan of the back up plan, I cannot tell you how many times this card has saved my ass.
4. Aetherspouts:
That's cute. |
Great dealing with heavy aggro decks, it basically allows you to push the game back several turns. This card also allows for some pretty hilarious shenanigans with Torrential Gearhulk... Speaking of...
3. Torrential Gearhulk:
![]() |
What's that? You took four turns rebuilding your board? Sorry. Not sorry. |
Nothing like flashing this guy in and casting a Rewind, or Aetherspouts for the second time, the value is real.
2. Tezzeret the Seeker:
![]() |
Who needs a Trinket mage any way? |
Possibly one of my favorite planeswalkers in my deck, he does all of the things I want to do as a blue mage, he can tutor up my sol ring, or he can untap two of my rocks and just give me straight up value. Tezzeret is just a great card over all.
1. Expropriate:

I heard you like taking extra turns... |
This card, if it resolves, just ends the game, especially in multiplayer. I either get to take a bunch of extra turns, or I take control of a permanent each of my opponents control. It's the ultimate in durdly tech.
So there you have it guys, who doesn't like a top 10 list? Let me know down in the comments what you all think and feel free to leave some feed back, as always thanks for reading!
